Can I use 'Send on Behalf of' with External Lists?

Answer

The simple answer to this question is 'only if you are not using Send on Behalf of Feature'.

'Send on Behalf of' feature automatically merges information about the lead/contact owner, which BlastWizard imports from your Salesforce account. You also use salesforce.com specific merge codes like "user_firstname" , "user_email".

External Lists are used when you are sending to recipients that are not in your Salesforce account. Therefore they are not associated with any sales reps and the merge codes like "user_firstname" do not apply.

Now you see why you cannot use 'Send on Behalf of' with External Lists. For the same reasons, you do not want to mix external lists with your leads & contacts (that you built using Campaigns or Search feature) when you are using the 'Send on Behalf of' feature.

We recommend that you combine 'External Lists' with your leads and contacts only when you are not using 'Send on Behalf Of' feature.
