Question

Why did 'Update Salesforce' failed to update Activity History?

Answer

If you saw a 'Successfully updated' message and yet do not see any updates to the Activity History of the lead you are investigating, it is possible that there is no recent activity.

If you saw the 'Ooops. Unfortunately the activity history update was unsuccessful....' message. Please check your email for the detailed diagnostic message. It could be for one of the following reasons, -

A. You do not have 'View All Data' Permission: As you may be aware, BlastWizard uses a single sign on process to authenticate itself when accessing your Salesforce.com data. This means BlastWizard inherits exactly the same rights and permissions to create, update and delete tasks that you have within Salesforce.

In order for BlastWizard to be able to update Activity History, Salesforce.com stipulates that you have 'View All Data' permission. Please contact your SFDC System Administrator to grant you this permission and try 'Update Salesforce' button again.

B. Custom Fields are missing: Boomerang adds a few custom fields to the Task so that our systems can write important data back to your Salesforce account. All these fields have to be visible on your page layout.

The list of Boomerang Custom fields to add are described in Section 2 of the Customization Guide .

  1. Please add them to the page layout (you can organize it under any section).
  2. Logout of Salesforce and log back in
  3. Click on BlastWizard Tab and the 'Update Salesforce' link

Activity History should be updated successfully now.
